It is very well located, within walking distance from the Plaza Mayor and Mercado San Miguel, where you can find numerous places to eat and shop. They also offer transfer from the airport to the hotel.

El personal muy amable y atento. El hotel muy bien situado, admiten mascotas. Las habitaciones y el hotel en general muy bonito.

Very good central location. Friendly and professional staff, very good breakfast, reasonable good bar. Helpful concierge with great knowledge of the city, than you! The public parking is 5 minutes walk, hotel gives you a discount. Good spacious rooms with aircon. If you are not happy with how it set up you need to go to the reception and they will set it up for you, do not waste you time trying to understand how it works. I understand that generally they set it to 26C and if you are not happy (I was not) you go and tell them. The hotel does not have its own restaurant. So for dinner you have to go out, ask the concierge for recommendations.

In short, I enjoyed my stay. Service was good, breakfast was tasty. Wifi worked fairly well . I'm dropping one star because of an event that repeated itself: I came back to my room only to notice that the cleaning lady had removed the card from the slot that turns the electricity on. As I had left my laptop to charge, the laptop was now dead, so I lost my unsaved work. On top of that, I now needed to stay an hour longer in my room so that the laptop would be charged enough so I could take it with me to work from somewhere else.

El hotel céntrico, habitaciones un poco justas la verdad, limpieza e higiene perfectas. Reservé en la web y al llegar allí las tarifas estaban a la mitad de lo que yo había pagado y al pedir explicaciones, me contestan que son “fluctuaciones según oferta y demanda”, no lo vi Justo pero es lo que hay con las cadenas hoteleras.

Hemos estado hospedados en este hotel y ha sido muy agradable. Muy buena ubicación y muy bonitas las habitaciones,aunque hemos pasado frío pob lá noche. Me llevo un buen recuerdo de allí y del personal, todos muy atentos y amables, pero quiero nombrar a JORGE , un chico muy simpático y muy atento con nosotras.

Trato excepcional. Muy atentos por la comodidad de los clientes, habitaciones muy limpias y bonitas. Muy económico para lo bien situado que está; lo más turístico de Madrid centro queda a menos de 1km a la redonda.

The reason i'm writing this review is because i just had a stressful experience with the reservation desk the past few weeks and i think this issue should be escalated to the GM so that it doesnt happen again for future travelers. I booked this hotel for 4 nights via hotels.com and canceled one month BEFORE the deadline. A month ago i realized the hotel still charged me a penalty fee of one night stay directly on my credit card. I spent hours and hours contacting both sides to get this resolved. When i contacted the hotel they told me the cancelation never got to them. When i contacted hotels.com, they maintained that they sent a cancelation request to the hotel and they can't do anything since the hotel charged my credit card directly. The penalty fee was just around 200 euros but it wasted so much of my time to get it fixed. Since the issue was getting nowhere after many weeks, I wrote to both parties together that I really do not have any more time to spend on this so I will have to file a formal consumer complaint and write a review online so that this issue gets escalated to the right people. I wanted to send them an email before i did this out of courtesy before making this public. Hotels.com responded to this in a very professional manner and was very empathetic that i had to deal with this unnecessary stress when this was not my fault at all. They thanked me for contacting them again before filing a formal consumer complaint or writing any negative reviews. After escalating the issue, they refunded the money to me out of their own pocket (even though they maintained that they sent the cancelation request to the hotel) and even issued me a coupon to compensate for this ordeal.Hotel Catalonia Plaza Mayor, on the other hand, responded to me in a very rude manner. The reservation desk stated that "it wasn't their fault", "they did their job well" and "they do not work under threats". Regardless of whos' fault it was, the tone of the email was very disrespectful and is not what i expected from from a 4-star hotel. They called my courtesy email "a threat" and stated that they did their job well. Do they prefer that i make things public before they have a chance to resolve it? I would be very reluctant to book this hotel again in the future as i would be worried about what could happen if something goes wrong (seems like they don't care at all). Anyways, i did get my refund from hotels.com so this is really just a note for the hotel GM to review the way the reservation team responds to emails (regardless who's fault it was ). From a guests' perspective, writing a negative review online or filing a consumer complaint is always a last resort. It only happens when we are 100% sure there is no other way to resolve it so we want the issue to be escalated since we have no other way to report the issue. Wouldn't they rather get a heads up first before seeing the incident posted on the internet so they have a chance to resolve it?

Perfectly located close to central Madrid, the rooms were clean, the bed comfortable. It did smell a bit stale as it was obviously a smoking room, I didn't think that was a thing anymore, it did play a bit of havoc on my sinuses. The door was missing on the shower so unfortunately the bathroom gets soaked after every shower. However overall the staff were pleasant, could understand English and the room was reasonably priced. Would probably stay here again.

Escasa profesionalidad en recepción. Llegamos antes del chek-in y solicitamos habitación en piso superior. Ningún problema. Pero cuando regresamos al mediodía nuestra habitación no estaba preparada todavía, después tuvieron una avería y finalmente nos ofrecieron una habitación.....en la primera planta. Nos disgustamos, aunque la habitación era superior. El hotel es céntrico y las habitaciones correctas.

We stayed at Hotel Catalonia Plaza Mayor for 2 nights in May 2022. This was the best hotel we stayed at during our entire 2 week vacation across Spain. Front desk staff was very kind and helpful, including hailing us a cab so we could get to the train station on time. Location is amazing. It's a very short cab ride from the train station and located very centrally so you can walk to all the major sites! Lots of little breakfast places right down the street, easy to get everywhere we wanted on foot. The room was one of the quietest we've ever stayed in anywhere! And we've traveled a LOT. Even though we were in room 501 right near the elevators we barely ever heard any outside noise. Was able to sleep SO well because of how quiet it was as well as the comfort of the bed. Nice big bathroom by European standard. Shower had a nice grippy floor so you never felt like you might slip. Great place to stay if you want to be central to walk to almost everything in Madrid. An excellent hotel choice!

Un hotel fantástico. No podría encontrar ningún inconveniente. Es todo impecable. La habitación es espléndida, tiene doble ventana que da a la calle y no escuchas ningún ruido. El desayuno es excepcional, tan sólo superado, que yo recuerde, en un hotel en el que me hospedé en Viena. El hotel cuenta con un pequeño gimnasio en el sótano y un amplio jacuzzi para relajarse. El personal es encantador. La ubicación por supuesto, de 10. Un hotel al cual volver siempre que se visite Madrid.

Had a great stay here. The staff are all very helpful and allowed me to drop my bag before check in so I could enjoy a nice walk in the park. The room was really perfect. Super comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Breakfast was absolutely superb, the selection was amongst the best hotel buffets I've seen. I'll be back again next time I'm in Madrid because this hotel has everything I need.

The staff. Without exception, they were helpful, pleasant and friendly. Great location. Very clean modern hotel. Only down side, the tea time treat, still advertised, is suspended because of covid. Strange as the buffet breakfast is still available.

Hay hoteles mejores en madrid , para ser de 4 estrellas el trato no es es mejor, además en la zona de comida tardan bastante en atenderte, no tinen servicio de bar a partir de que cierran la piscina y si vas a pedir algo a la cocina te dicen que es la hora de la cena, la verdad esperaba más

We stayed September 2021. I want to personally thank all the members of the staff, in particular all the friendly faces we will sure miss. Wainer, Daca, Davi, Juan, Jeniffer, all the cleaning staff. Our first time in Madrid and we felt like home. The room was so comfortable, clean and modern. The breakfast buffet is so delicious. The patio is so relaxing. The absolutely love this hotel. stay here and feel like you are home. I am so glad we stayed here.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in this hotel. We returned here 3 times in a span of 17 days. During this period, we travelled all over Spain and stayed at various hotels. However, Catalonia Plaza Mayor is the one that stands out the most. The hotel was nice enough to let us leave some of our luggage during our Spain tour. The rooms are comfy and the location of the hotel is within walking distance to major attractions in Madrid. Anton Martin metro station is also nearby. The breakfast at the hotel was really good and they also serve free snacks from 5 pm to 8 pm.The only issue I had was with the jacuzzi at the hotel. The water in the jacuzzi was somewhat cold. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Finally, I would like to recognize the reception staff for making our stay in Madrid a pleasant experience. We will miss this place!

Fantastic staff throughout (front desk, restaurant, cleaning staff etc.) Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Nice gym with jacuzzi. Great tapas hour for guest in the bar area/courtyard. Breakfast is a great spread and the staff pay attention to every detail. Excellent location: walkable to most major sites. Great "bang for your buck" - highly recommended, in fact I will use this hotel when in town for business next.
